miHoYo is a Shanghai video-game company best known for Genshin Impact, Honkai, and the international publishing brand HoYoverse.
miHoYo is a Chinese game studio founded in Shanghai in 2011 by Cai Haoyu, Liu Wei, and Luo Yuhao, who met at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.1 Its international publishing arm is known as HoYoverse.1 Genshin Impact (2020) made the studio a global consumer-internet company, not only a domestic game maker.
History
The studio began with smaller Honkai titles before Genshin Impact became a worldwide hit in 2020.1 HoYoverse was introduced as the overseas brand. Corporate structure includes Chinese operating companies and overseas publishing entities; use the specific legal name relevant to a jurisdiction when writing about contracts or takedowns.
