History

The service began as PaloAltoDelivery.com and entered Y Combinator in 2013.1 DoorDash became the largest U.S. food-delivery platform by consumer spending around 2019 and went public in December 2020, raising about US$3.37 billion.1 It acquired Finland's Wolt in 2021 and the U.K.'s Deliveroo in 2025, extending operations far beyond the DoorDash brand.1

Labor and legal record

DoorDash has faced lawsuits over worker classification, tips, data breaches, and other consumer issues.1 An authoritative profile should not omit that record. Market-share figures in secondary sources move quickly and should be dated when reused.
